Well I know that if you wash your computer keyboard in your dishwasher and let it dry for about a week until it's completely dry it will still work. Maybe if you let your key completely dry for a week it may start to work again.

Although the keyboard thing might be very true, I doubt that it will be the case with your car remote.

The reason for the keyboard working (and the key point) is that it is then completely dried, and since it has no source of power attached to it, it will not short.

If, on the other hand, you put your typical battery operated alarm clock in the wash and dry it (with the battery in), the power from the battery will be shorted at some point and will ruin the circuitry. I think that's the case with your keys. I see two ways out of this :
1. Get a new set of keys from the dealer
2. Do a sort of a surgical operation, open the keys and see if the circuitry has any noticable damage then fix it.

Good Point xosrow. Also check ebay because I think I've seen keys on there.
