You get what you pay for - I have a buddy with a 3 series BMW that ran them one season with laser straight alignment and they're worn.

IMO - the best all seasons will trump the worst snow tires.

I agree, plus if you worry about cost, you should not, because you are increasing the life time of your tires any way by switching between winter and summer tires, it is just you pay too much up front

215/50/17 which have a diameter of 25.46. The 235's have a D of 25.33. So they are pretty close. A little less width is always good for the snow. I can't find many reviews on the tires, but the tread looks good, they are a silica compound, and for 83 bucks they're worth a try.

I live in BC though so I can't say the price will be the same in Ontario.

very true!

Agree about the stopping comment earlier. I had studless X-Ice's on my Jetta GLI and will never ever go through another winter with All Seasons again. Quattro or not, they're incredibly better in even light snow conditions. Also, when your A/S's need replacing, you can get yourself a proper set of summer tires which is even better than A/S in the summer. Don't compromise.

Winter tires will stop faster, even on bone dry pavement, than AS tires, in our winter weather.

LOL wtf? yo if your going to get winter tires.. dont go cheap otherwise you pay what you get for. winter tires are great because its made differently than all season tires.

1. Used mainly for winter so the thread doesn't wear off as much as you would use an A/S tire all 4 seasons...
2. Better traction
3. Winter tires + rims = heavier which also helps you stop (try putting some on and you eat more gas , and the car takes a bit longer to pick up speed)
4. Getting winter tires helps ur handling in the snow (seen so many people slip because they dont have great winter tires on during winter)
5. Never get stuck
6. You point and laugh at others for their RWD and slowness
7. Show them the power of an AUDI who owns the road
8. Since you change up tires from A/S to winter tires you save yourself some new tires in the long run. Winter in Toronto lasts about 5-6 months depending lol. so in the end we get 6-7 years outta these tires.

So basically the more you pay for something the better it is? that's your logic? ok then. Let's tell the guy living on a college budget that the only way to get winter tires is to take out a loan or else he's pretty well screwed. Great advise guys, way to help.

Hey rusty, I'm not trying to pull ur leg here. Its true that the higher u pay, the better quality the tire, but it also depends on your skills of driving and manevuering. U got to have equal 50/50 otherwise regardless how well ur tires are, they aren't gonna save u. I mean if ur on a college budget, why would u go get an a4? Get something cheaper or financially watch how u spend everyday? Get a job? More part time jobs? Time manage bro. That's how I make it through. And winter tires last long and a good investment to spend on.
