Help Changing brake pads
 

I never change the brake pads on a german car before..
Anything that i need to be aware off???

Any pdf files on how to change it
I have a 2003 Audi 3.0 ... any help will be apprieciated

You will need a tool to retract the caliper piston...the piston needs to spin back into the caliper as that is how the park brake operates. Some people have said using a c-clamp works. Do not use slip joint pliers.

• Remove wheels.


• On vehicles equipped with a brake pad wear indicator, disconnect connector - 1 - .

• Lift locating lug slightly on lower part of connector - 2 - and turn 90 ° .

• Pull connector lower part out of bracket.

• Raise vehicle.

• Remove wheels.


• Remove securing bolts from brake caliper housing, while counter-holding on guide pins.


• Swing brake caliper housing upward and remove brake pads.


• Press piston back into caliper housing.

• Note:

• Press piston back into the cylinder with resetting tool, before inserting new brake pads. Before pressing the piston back, draw off brake fluid from the reservoir with a bleeder bottle. Otherwise, fluid can overflow and cause damage, particularly if reservoir has been topped off.

CAUTION!
• Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be extracted by mouth using a hose!

• Installing

• Use methylated spirits to clean brake caliper housing.


• Install brake pads.

• Swing brake caliper housing down and tighten securing bolt to 30 Nm.

• Note:

• The repair kit includes four self-locking hex bolts which must be installed.

• After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.

• Mount wheels Suspension, Wheels, Steering - Repair Group 44

• Check brake fluid level and top off if necessary.

The smarter thing to do is to open up the bleeder screw on the caliper to force out the used fluid. You don't want to push used fluid back into the ABS module. Just make sure you close the bleeder before removing the tool off the caliper piston. The square cut seal tends to push the piston back out a bit which will suck air into the lines.

To each their own. I'm just trying to share my knowledge and experience. Besides, your directions look like they are for the fronts and torque specs are different for FWD and AWD.
