Default Headlight Combo Switch LED Issue

Does anyone have a problem similar to I am experiencing, where the position indicator LED on the headlight switch is not lit up?
When I start the car i do see it briefly flicker, however, almost immediately after, it goes out, and to my knowledge never comes on again, until the next start up of the car.

First photo shows the switch at night lit up with no flash.
The second photo shows the switch with a flash so you can see the position clearly.

Has anyone successfully taken apart the switch itself to check the sensors, or would I need to replace the whole unit if I wanted it to work properly?

When I say take it apart, I mean do with this switch, similar to the DIY article for the Sunroof postion switch shown here:
http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page...s/sunroof.html

(I dont know if that is the same issue or not, but its the only thing I could think of.)

Thanks in advance for your comments/feedback,
