Default Fuel Pump

I lost a fuel pump while cruising at 70 mph in the States on my 04 A4 1.8T. It cost me $700 US to fix. Just want to know if this was ballpark or if I paid too much. It had hic-uped a couple of times over the last year, which I put down to cruise control shifting. Was this an early warning sign?

Well first of all, i paid that much for my fuel pump for my 2004 cavalier, so you didn't get ripped off, thats average price, and in comparison, small to most audi vs others.

I dont have answers for the second, manual for life! I gate cruise control personally.

Last summer I paid just around $800 at Mississauga Audi for a fuel pump for my 04 A4 3.0, so I think what you paid was in the ballpark.

I'd say that the hick up may have been an early fuel pump warning, or it may be an early sign of a failing coil pack. Have you replaced the coil packs? Have you experienced this hick up since you replaced the fuel pump?

I have replaced the packs, half on my own and half on warranty. And the car performed flawlessly on the 1000km trip home from the repair.
Thanx for the price info.
