I can't get the jack back into it's case. I have compressed the jack down and made it as small as I can, but when I put it into the mount in the trunk, the cover won't fit snugly over the top, which means that the floor panel won't sit flush when screwed down.

A small issue, but it's been bugging me since I bought this last year - it was like that when I bought it and I've not been able to figure out what I am doing wrong.

Could someone be kind enough to post pictures of the jack as it should be?

This is a 2003 A4 Avant.

 

I can sympathize. It's a pita for sure. Looking at your 3rd pic you need to rotate the handle 90 degrees clockwise. Towards the back of the case. Good luck!

 

Pretty sure the handle fits inside the Jack its a PITA to get it in but thats how it was on my A4

 

No Tim$2 has it right - needs one more quarter turn clockwise so the handle is towards the back of the case holding the jack. Nothing on top so that the jack can be pushed towards the back of the case and the lid ends up flush with the top portion of the jack.

Can post a picture if it's really needed.

 

I got it in. It was as described - the crank handle needed another quarter turn to the right, plus I had to give it some physical encouragement so that the black plastic **** on the crank sat flush against the body of the jack. Now it fits into the case no problems.
