Hi,
I am looking to get into the Audi world with an 04 A4 Avant and have noticed something.

I noticed that some A4's (sedan or Avant) have matching paint at the bottom of front/rear and side rockers.

What's the difference in terms of Trims during those years of production. Is one an lower end than the other?

Also, other than seeing the "QUATTRO" plate at the back, how can you tell the car has Quattro instead of someone sticking a sign on the back to say it is.

some have them painted, some dont. as far as i know it doesnt really signal any type of package.

as for quattro, youd have to do the rear badge and the one in the interior. if someone is trying to sell as car as quattro when its not they are completely retarded.. just look underneath, you will see the extra driveshaft for the rear wheels.

Actually older B6 came with 2 tone bumpers and they addressed this issue on later B6 models like my 05 version. One reason is they had some complaints from customers saying that a non matching colour bumper looked (cheap) for a luxury car which I tend to agree...

The Quattro sign is on gthe back and on the dash in front of the passenger side. Besides once you take it for an inspection you'll find out quite easily once it has been lifted

Me neither, and also will look for a front spoiler if I can find one, they seem pretty rare.

 

Just went to see the car, seems clean. CEL light is on for O2 sensor though. Will need to find out how much it will cost. Is this something I can do myself with the right tools?

 

Did you scan for codes yourself?

Same thing happened to me, O2 sensor the same day i bought it, previous owner payed for it, cost 500 bucks. I have done O2 sensors on other cars and it took 5 minutes and a cresent wrench. I have no idea for a b6 though, maybe someone else will know, or try google it.

 

No Scanner. Just trusting what he's saying. I hope he's not lying. But the car was too clean to pass up. Figure an O2 sensor is easy to do once I jack it up.

Just need to get a scanner now and then determine what the problem is. And hope it's only 1 problem and not like 12 codes that my friend found out from the dealership! haha.

Any good brands of O2 sensors for this Audi? or should I buy from OEM? Are they Bosch anyway? Sorry, I used to be and still am a Honda person, so new to the Euro scene.

 

Grab an ebay vag-com cable, 35 bucks shipped you can scan for codes yourself, and do other various modding. I dont have the link to the thread, but on audizine there is a how to.

I dont know about brands really, usually stick with oem. Note that some codes are fine, I drive with 3 codes I have no intention of fixing, It will even throw a code for a speaker with a bad connection.
