Default Audi A4 fog light question

I have a 2005 Audi A4 Avant 1.8T (B6) and was wondering if the fog light is the same as the sedan. My fog light was cracked on the highway and wanted to replace it before the bulb gets shattered. Is it a big job to replace the fog light - will I need to remove the bumper to do it. Would it just be easier & more cost effective to make an insurance claim? Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Foglight grill just pulls out from the lower bumper section. Couple of screws to undo to then remove the whole assembly and replace. Shouldn't take more than about 15 mins of time total to remove and replace.

If you go out to the Vancouver Audi Club meet (www.vancouveraudiclub.ca) folks would likely be able to help you replace things real quickly assuming you have the replacement foglight housing.

My car is the generation just before yours but I hope it will still be as simple as you say it is. I don't have the replacement fog light yet because I still am not sure if the Avant fog light is the exact same as the sedan's. They look the same but, who knows, there could be a minor difference between the two. (Like between the euro Audis and the NA Audis - they look the same but to the naked eye there are subtle differences - does anybody know??) I've seen some fog lights on ebay and other sites but they usually specify that it is for the sedan and I don't want to buy it and find out it won't fit my Avant. Can anybody suggest where to get a replacement fog light (for the Avant) - but more importantly are they the exact same part?!?

I would put money on it that the fogs are the same between the sedan and avant. Call a dealer - they'll be able to verify it.
