Gears don't have to be large to transmit gobs of hp/torque. I'm more impressed by how small they've made been able to make because of the actual number of gear wheels/components Audi needs to put together to have it work.

Check this link to see how small an F1 gearbox is yet they produce far more hp/torque than our cars.
read somewhere else that each gearbox cogs is only about 12mm wide.
