Hi there arimendiii. That's what I want to know. If the timing belt breaks on the 3.0 V6 in a 2005 A4, will it damage the engine? Obviously you want to know the same for the 1.8T. Someone on this forum should know the answer to that question. Thanks.

Well unless they use a different 1.8T engine in the VW's, it is definitely an interference engine. My boss snapped the timing belt on his '00 Passat 1.8T and that made a mess. wrecked most of the valves and all the pistons had light valve impressions on them although they were salvageable. I am pretty sure the 3.0 is an interference motor as well.

Audi 1.8T, 2.7T, 2.8, 3.0 and others are definitely interference engines so change the TB Kit when recommended or one is asking for very expensive engine repairs.
The 3.0 is one of the more difficult engines to change TB. Need ~$800 of specialty tools to do the job properly.
