I have had my A-4 for almost 2 years. Ever since I got it the car makes a clicking or ticking sound. It is not at idle or constant when the car is being driven. It only happens at random times. It seems to occur when I acclerate after letting off the gas a bit or at times taking off from a stop. It is not consistent however. The dealership can't figure it out so I am very curious.

Any thoughts?

 

damn, I thought I was just hearing things, I hear the same thing on mine as well, same year 1.8T...

it's not all the time though, I hear it close to the air vent by the driver window or around that area, maybe lower...I guess I'm not the only one with this clicking noise...

 

I can also feel a vibration in the center of the drivers floor board when it does it. It seems to do it between 1.5 and 3 rpms. It can happen when taking off from a stop but not always. Very odd.

 

Mine was clicking and hesitating just before a coil went bad. Replaced #2 cylinder coil and then 2,000 kms replaced #1 coil. Now I carry a spare in the trunk.
