I actually do own a 3.2 A4 and I still recommend the 2.0 and 1.8 variants over any of the V6s because lets face it, the V6 isn't all that impressive for the extra money. I bought it because I got a good deal but I would have preferred the 2.0T.

Having a 2.8L V6 with what,190hp(?) is nothing to brag about - a solid engine? Yes, but its not the performance monster you make it out to be nor is it a whole lot peppier than a 1.8T. I seem to remember other posts where you brag about your V6 as being better than the B7 2.0T even though the 2.0T, bone stock, would pull your car in any gear... LOOK IT UP.

I'm just getting a little sick of you touting your opinion as fact when it RARELY is, and believe me I'm not the only one here that's annoyed with it. Stop giving people bad advice, there is nothing wrong with the 1.8T - it is a great engine, there is also nothing wrong with the 2.8 V6 but it's not a huge improvement in performance. You can get a reflash for a 1.8 that will put you in the same performance ballpark for a lot less money than opting for the V6.

I agree it is not a performance monster up to 160 km/hr on icy, snowy, rain drenched, winding road. Above 160 km/hr it becomes a M O N S T E R.

I would not reply to that if you drove an Automatic, but you don't, so we both know what we are talking about.
One thing that you do not have to deal with is Mountains on Higway #1 Calgary - Vancouver.
It is still 30% not divided. I travel there often and all I needed was the passing power. You will never understand me driving in your flat Ontario.
I absolutely love to wait for a proper moment and pass 7 - 10 vehicles at once. True I have cold sweat on me afterwards and think to myself "What have I just done ?" and than I do it again and again.

Welcome to my world as per attached. I just hope you will have some understanding why it has to be Castrol Oil, Esso Gas, Bosh Iridium Sparkplugs and Michelin Tires.
The poster is a neighbour of mine and I do not try to be nasty. I just want GOOD for him.

well there you go Sask-king306, if you plan to drive above 160k with passing power, go for the v6. If you don't then the 1.8 will do.

LMAO. Well said, also if you need to avoid falling logs you'll need the V6 as well. Nobody can survive in Alberta on 4 cylinder engines, you'd be crazy to try. That must also be why Shell is going out of business in Alberta... oh wait...
