Sunroof will not do as I do....

Sunroof will not do as I do....
I turn the **** to fully close and the sunroof closes to about the 80% position.
I then have to flick the **** back(to any position) and then back to close for the sunroof to close properly.
Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it just does not move to the appropriate position.
I don't know how to tackle this problem, Any suggestions ?

Did you try holding the **** passed open which causes the sunroof to open as far as it can physically go? Then close the sunroof and it should shut all the way. This happens on the B7 but I have no idea if it will fix your issue. it's worth a try though.

Sounds like a problem with the contacts and sensing where the switch is. The audiworld Sen Sen posted is just what I was about to post, check it out and see if it solves your problem.

Re: Sunroof will not do as I do....
My sunroof hasnt been working since I got the car (its a 96 and I bought it a few months ago as a "project car"...) so I went to the dealership to ask questions. He told me about the switch (like you guys mentioned) and he also suggested that I clean and re-lube the tracks and gears. Apparently you're supposed to apply a little grease to these parts every 4-6 months but "no one ever does it" said the service guy as he rolled his eyes. The sunroof may be doing its pinch protection thing if it gets caught up on debris.

I know this is an old thread, but I am going to use the Audizine tech procedure on my 1998 A4. For the last while, the roof has been opening to the "tilted" position when you get in and turn on the car... sometimes it happens, sometimes not.
That contact cleaning as shown above sounds like the right idea...
Thanks for the information!
