Hey,

My 1997 Audi A4 won't pass smog because 3 things says Not Ready. The guy that tried to smog it told me to just keep driving and the computer will reset itself... well, I've been driving it off and on for about 6 months. Today I tried to have it re-smogged and it still didn't pass for the same reason and I was told the same thing... Is there anything I can do the reset it and have it pass smog?

Well it doesn't pass smog due to it producing too high a level of emissions.
They won't fail you for having a CEL on, they'll just inform you that it may be an emissions fault but if the car passes it passes.

What was the reason it failed?

 

All emission levels are fine and passed... however, the O2 sensor, cat and another sensor read "not ready" I was told that if only two items read this, then it would pass, but since it's three, I have to wait for the computer to reset itself.

 

try replacing the sensors then. or at least the O2 sensor.
