hello, i have a 96 audi quattro v6 12v and the steering rack is dying and leaking all over the place.

I have taken it in to confirm it is in fact the rack and not the power steering hoses, and have been quoted 600+ for a re manufactured rack. this price is a lot and i have researched online to find better prices but i am located in canada so not many places will ship here.

I do not know which rack i have as there is a Koyo and the other appears to be Cardone Steering Rack,

i do not know if it is an all aluminum or a aluminum and steel replacemnt i need.

any help would be appreciated as i am trying to get this part ordered asap so my car will stop leaking.

is the $600+ price for the remanufactured rack by itself or with install?

 

I just got a rack from shokan, who is a all audi wrecker. I paid 370 shpping in, but ship to washington and pick up from there. I was quoted 1000 by my mechanic (just for rack no labour no tie rods no fluid). Mine is a B6 so the price is quite a bit more

I was trying to figure out the difference between ZF and KOYO and all that and I was sick of dumb *** parts dealers that didn't know FA so I went for a used one.
