Starter removal
I know that you have a 1.8T from searching your past posts, but if you really want help from people, you should at least let us know what engine you have
.
Removing the starter is a very simple job: get under the car, remove skid plate, remove 2 bolts to the bell-housing, remove bracket to the block (1 bolt), disconnect electrical, and you're done.
I've never removed an alternator in a B5, but it's right at the front underneath the intake manifold. You're going to have to drain the coolant, remove some coolant lines and the intake manifold to get at it. You could also get it out by removing the whole front end, which you'd really only want to do if you need the timing belt done at the same time.
