I would have to do some research on the properties of gas and ethanol to give you an answer as to how a 5 or 10% ethanol mix would be effected by temperature. In the mean time you most certainly are taking more proactive measures than most by making sure your tank is full which will prevent moisture. We have had some drastic temperature fluctuation and very low temps here in Ontario as well and I have not heard of anyone taking an addative measure to compensate. Adding something other than gas to your tank should be done with caution. The caution would be in terms of what are you adding? How much are your adding? Will the addative effect anything other than the gas? Will adding something to your fuel have a negative effect on other components? You are using Shell to avoid ethanol. Most addatives are ethanol based because ethanol has a freezing point of -173 F and gas freezes at -40 F. So by adding an ethanol based addative you are defeating the purpose of using Shell.

I'd be more concerned about your cold cranking amps on your battery than your fuel.. Seriously, fill and drive.. -22 is an average cold winter day in ontario and I have never ever thought about this......

Yeah, my 2 cents would be to keep the tank as full as possible when temps fluctuate like that. Less chance of water/condensation getting into your lines and freezing.

Adam, the Audi manual specifically states that the Courvoisier VS in your picture is not suitable for a fuel additive; you must use at least Courvoisier VSOP or higher. I only use Remy Martin in my tank, but I only have a POS "LAWN-BOY" engine that has no secret un-lockable, super-HP mode.
