Well after thinking I needed new brakes (Light on, noisey brakes) I took it in, and my mechanic told me all the rotors and pads have TONS of life left on them.
The problem was they were filthy, he cleaned them all and the squeeling went away and are back to normal
The problem is the damn pad wear light is still on! is there a easy way to turn it off?
Any wisdom from you guy's would be greatly appreciated!

Connecting the two wires will turn off the light. You can cut the connector off and solder the wires together, or make a bridge on the connector and try to seal it up if you don't want to cut it off.

 

I had this issue also. After replacing pads and rotors all around, the light remained. I then cut the sensors and spliced the wires, and it has fixed the problem to a certain extent. If I turn to wheel to the max in the either direction (ie parking lots) the light will come back on.

It's rather infuriating. Apparently there is some other wiring issue that is beyond my capablities.

Hopefully just cutting the sensors out will work for you! Takes 5 minutes, and makes no difference to the running of the car. Just remember to visually check your brakes now, as you won't receive a notification when they ARE worn.

 

The position of the steering rack has no direct electrical connection to the brake-pad warning sensor. How do you have the sensor harness secured? Did you solder it? Maybe it's pulling loose when the wheel spindle is furthest from the car, e.g., stretching the wire and pulling a connector loose, or pulling the connection you made loose.

 

Hmm, good point. It isn't soldered, they are currently just wrapped together, and then wrapped in electrical tape. Perhaps something more secure will fix the problem.
