Default Noob here, question for the members.

Excuse my noob questions, but I have never looked at these cars and everything is new to me.

My question is for the car in the below photos, what is the value ( on or about ) ?

It's a 1996 A4 1.8L turbo Quattro model in 5 speed with 118,000 Km's and no rust / mint condition.

Also what's the differences or which is better for resale between the 1.8L and the 2.8L engine variants ?

Thanks in advance!

This is how i would look at it:
1. The car has low km's so thats a plus.
2. You will have to do the timing belt/water pump if you buy it (around 800 bucks)
3. It has work done to it, so add some cash on the price for that (bumpers, rims, skirts, exhaust)
4. Its an 01 so last year of that body style
5. Cloth seats, no cd player, but it seems to have the S trim (steering wheel).

All in all this car could be around 7-8 K in value in my opinion (and thats just because of the low km's). Anyone agree with me?

There's no such thing as a noob or stupid question. Just as Einstein said: Never stop asking questions!

I would have to agree with 2003. If the timing belt was already done, it would be about 8-9. The inside looks a bit rough as well.

To give you a comparison: I purchased my 2001 1.8T A4 about two years ago at a dealership for $12k. It had 57,000 KM, it was very regularly serviced, it was very clean, it was driven by an older lady. It has the s-trim, I believe, and also the higher end 1.8 litre engine for B5 A4s delivering 170hp. The car also had new brakes, rims and a spoiler (quite uncommon for Audis). Of course, since I purchased it at a dealership, I probably paid more than I would have from a private owner.

If you count everything up 2003 hit it pretty dead on.

therefore i would say we would have to rethink the whole thing, you would be right if it was a 2001 B5 but as he has stated, this is an 1996 B5.

just thought id mention it!

Oh, thats a whole different ball game, i didnt even see that. This all of a sudden became a 4K to a 5K max vehicle. I pray that the timing belt has been done on that car, cause a 15 year old belt is sooo tired...regardless of the mileage.

On a separate note, does anyone know if i can change my name as it appears on here? I dont even have the 2003 A4 anymore, but a 2004...and it wasnt very creative for me. If one of the administrators could change it to Just_G it would be much appreciated.
