Default Lowering 2000 a4

Just bought my 2000 A4 and it looks like it was driven by an old woman......which it was. First thing I want to do is lower the car, but I can't do the whole thing at once. I'm going to start with springs first, and then the struts etc... next year.

The car rides high so I think somewhere between 1.5 and 2 " is where I need to be at. Does anyone have any suggestions? Springs for sale? What should I know before I get into this?

Thanks for the help in advance guys. This forum is why I bought my car and I can't wait to get it looking the way I want it.

All of the spring sets that I've found so far are for front 1.4" drop and back 1.3". I really need more I think.

i have a 2004. I just put on the eibach kit. Now take into account when they say its going to lower the car 1.6, they are refering from the lowest suspension that is provided from the manufacturer. Which is the ultra sport or the red strutts. If you have the base suspension like i did its going to lower it alot more then 1.6. Mine droped by about 2.3. Dosent sound like alot but when you have it on the car it makes a big difference. Especialy with the fact that 19s are going on the car.

Some typical choices for springs are Eibach, Neuspeed, H&R, and Tein.

I just did H&R Coilovers less than 2 weeks ago... I'm riding on 18" RS4 wheels in my 01 A4.

The difference between stock non-sport suspension & coilovers slammed as low as they can go is just sexy as ****. My car used to look liek a dune buggy, now its *** on wheels.

Save the extra bucks and go coilovers & drop it dirty low. I scrape the bottom of my car riding over the lines on the road.

Plus coilovers you can raise up come winter!

...buuuut.... it was a **** load of work just adjusting my car an inch to get the right set height. I might just buy a $500 winter beater instead of raising it back up.

in the end... GET COILOVERS !!!

While this is technically true, chances are your height adjustment will seize after a few winter's worth of salt. As well, while it sounds simple, every time you change your ride height, you ought to have your alignment done, which makes biannual adjustments quite a hassle. Not to mention to properly setup a coilover you should do corner balancing, which is quite time consuming.

I'm not necessarily advocating against coilovers, but I am saying for a lot of people the added adjustability may not be that desirable.

I went with some koni coilovers - they're priced pretty well, although, they're a bit too soft for my taste, but the ride is really good, even with the 19's on :
