Default Kick Back??

It's the only way I can explain it...
When I shift from 1st to 2nd in my 1999 audi a4 quattro, I get kick back in the stick when I proceed to press down the accelerator...

I was just wondering what that might be due to? It sure isn't smooth...
It seems like there is flex somewhere in the linkage...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

M
