Default Coilpack brackets (holders)

Can someone with AWM engine code (2001 1. check if the coils are held by any kind of bracket. When I bought it, I didn't pay attention, when taking off the plastic cover, that the coils have 2 screw holes each. According to some DIY articles, when changing spark-plugs, one shoud:
Undo the brackets (6 mm hex), disconnect the coil, pull it out.

I found that my engine has no brackets. Called local Audi dealer, they said it's OK, apparently my engine doesn't need it, the coils are held by friction...strange, what those threaded holes are for then?

they are for bolt down coil packs. Here is a link for a kit:

The AWM dosent have those brackets im pretty sure only the AEB 97-99 1.8t had those brackets. So dont worry about them i have a AWM and the coils sit perfect without the brackets.

Huh, good. I have been taking the engine cover off to check them - on a daily basis.

Now, Chaos, since you have the same engine, tell me please one more thing:

My MIL is on (coolant temperature sensor, ECT), I bought the new sensor, but, pain in the butt to get to it. Wires and pipes blocking it, I could see it, but I cannot even take the metal clip off (which I cant see, BTW), just ran my fingers around it, felt the plastic clip was there, that's it. Tried to pull the connector out - no luck.
Decided to do it over the weekend.

Any tips?

Don't bother. The coolant temp sensor is replaced free of charge by Audi. They extended warranty on my model/year. Fair enough from them.
