can he be running this on the stock MAF sensor? i havent ask him yet about the MAF i always thought a ko4 with a TT MAF would be more stealth... id like to know if the set-up would be reliable (assuming everything's fixed right, he says it was professionally installed) id like to have this car has a daily driver, even during winter!

Yes, he could be using the stock MAF, but there are larger ones available, e.g., 225TT, S4, RS4. A larger MAF housing is only going to yield a gain if it's currently a restriction in the intake piping, which I'm not sure it would be with a car not maxing out 440CC injectors. There may be a small gain to be had there, but you'll need new tuning in order to keep it running smoothly.

Buying a mod'ed car is a crapshoot – many enthusiast owners take better care of their cars than an old lady would, and many enthusiasts run their cars into the ground. I recommend just being diligent about checking out the maintenance history, quality of the parts and installation, and the knowledge and attitude of the owner. The blow off valve is a red flag, as on a 1.8T they're just rice, and are suboptimal.

 

thx for your input! really appreciated... yea i thought so about the BOV... if i buy it, ill change the BOV for a FORGE splitter DV, would that be better?

 

I'm not familiar with all of Forge's offerings, but any valve that recirculates, and does not vent to atmosphere is fine.

I forgot to say that, when looking into a vehicle with extensive mods, it would be prudent to buy a VAG-COM and scan the car and run logs of hard driving. I do this for any car that I buy, but it would be even more crucial to evaluating a tuned car with a turbo swap.

 

ok thx, forge splitter is a recirculating valve, that u can split so up to 50% of the air can be vented out.... im really not familiar with the VAG-COM but ill look into it....
