Default B5 A4 alarm issue

Hey, I jsut picked up my a4 not too long ago, and have noticed that the alarm goes off often for no reason at all. It is really inconvenient sometimes! How would i go about fixing this problem?

buy a vag-com cable, read center lock control module, see what's wrong.

are you windows or sunroof fully closed when it goes off? if you have your motion sensors turned on wind can activate the alarm if they arent fully closed.

Most likely control module. Check your trunk for leaks.

I have noticed that it goes off easier when the windows are open... ill keep that in mind. But it still happens once in a while with the windows closed. And check the trunk for leaks? that would set it off?

Well thats what happened with me, the leak let water get to the control module there, which pretty much controls everything in the car, including the alarm. Better hope its not that, expensive to get it replaced. Have a look under the spare, see if there's water there.
