Hey guys, I'm in the process of replacing the engine in my newly acquired '01 A4 1.8T Quattro, manual transmission. Almost everything went well on the removal, just broke a molded plastic coolant line and lost three little snap-in wire U clips. So not too bad for the first time doing major surgery on an Audi. I have some pics of my progress attached. It would be a great help if someone could tell me what the broken coolant line(first picture) is called, to save me some time. Ill update with more pictures as progress continues.

Ok, so now while I'm deciding whether to get a rebuilt engine or rebuild a used one. I decided to do the RWD conversion, its pretty straight forward but re-assembly is more difficult than dis-assembly. More specifically, bolting the drive shaft back on to the tail of the tranny. It's a good thing I marked the mating surfaces or it would have been much harder. I've never welded a diff before so I wasn't really sure where to weld, but I think I hit the important areas. All went well tonight, tomorrow I just have to remove and modify the front CV axles. Then the conversion is complete, but I'm going to buy another set of front axles and a center diff for winter just in case the RWD doesn't go well in the snow
