Hi guys, I'm new to this forum...please cut some slack

This is my first major problem for my 99 A4 2.8L V6 Quattro...

1. My remotes do not unlock/lock the car.
2. The two red security lights on the door do not work.
3. Central locking button does not work.
4. When i pull the key out of the ignition after i have parked the car, the interior lights do not turn on.
5. Fuel filler door does not unlock.

The only way i can lock and unlock the car is by using the key in the driver side door.

At first i thought it might be just be a simple fuse...upon further inspection and searching...it appears to not be so simple (shoulda guessed, it's a german car!!)

I have searched for this topic...most solutions that come up are: central locking pump is faulty/broken or vacuum lines are broken (somewhere near passenger side door??).



So my question is...

1. where should i start to diagnose the exact problem? (ie. where and what should i do/check first?)
2. Where are these vacuum lines in the passenger side?
3. Where is the fuel filler door release?

Any other information/link would be much appreciated

I had pretty much the exact same thing happen, but eventually my alarm started going off randomly too. It was the central locking pump/module. Look in your trunk for leaks, ie. look by the spare tire if there's water pooled, or if the carpeting is a bit wet after rain. The computer is $500-600 new.

 

i checked the are where the module/unit is located...almost completely filled with water
currently drying it...i really hope it worse after that....

we had huge over 150 mm of rain in the last 48 hours...

hopefully when the pump is dried it will work...

 

Yeah, hopefully it still works, but make sure you get that leak found and sealed. For me it was the seal around my passenger side taillight that was gone.

 

my 99 remote does not work either. where is the module located?

 

In the trunk on the right side, behind the carpeting on the side.

 

you need take the pump/control moduler out, and pop the under cover off, the control board is in there,dry it off, and check the all 3 connector see if any short or corrosion, dry and clean them. then cross your finger pray.

normally, as long as you can start your car, it's just some connecter short. otherwise, your car won't start at all.

remember when put things back, use some gasket maker or sealant to make it water tight.

so i took the pump out 3 days ago...and to my suprise...the WHOLE compartment where the pump goes...it was filled with water.
like...half of the pump along with the foam surrounding it was submerged in water...

so i dried the compartment and dried the pup unit itself for the last three days

plugged everything back in earlier and it still doesn't work
my guess is that the whole circuit board is fried and that there's no chance in hell it will work

 

what are my options now?

i don't want to take it to a stealership...
