99 A4 1.8T Quattro - Creaking Noise When Turning Left
I have a 1999 A4 1.8T Quattro with about 160,000 kms on it. It's been great since I bought it from a friend just before winter started.
Lately, it's been making a weird creaking noise when I make left turns - both low speed and high speed - sounds kinda like and old wooden ship that creaks in the movies. Right turns make no such noise.
Any ideas? I was warned about control arm issues. Is this a control arm issue? Or maybe suspension?
The sound doesn't seem to affect the actual steering, but it is annoying and can't be good ....

Looks like I've solved my own problem. I took a look under the car and it looks like the plastic under-trim has come loose and is rubbing against the wheel when turned left.
When it gets warmer, I'll take a more thorough look ...
