Problem starting 2002 A4
I removed the battery from the car 2 months ago because I was not using the car.
The battery was kept in the garage on a trickle charger. When I reinstalled the battery every thing works but the car will not start. When you turn the ignition key the engine turns over once and stops. Can I fix this myself or will I have to pay a dealer to fix it. I have done several other repairs on this car my self. Any help would be appreciated. I think it is caused by the security system.

I found this on the web...
Does the car turn over once and then die? The key might not be programmed to work because it contains an anti-theft chip. You will need to take you car and ALL of the keys you have for it to an Audi dealer and have them reprogrammed. All keys need to be programmed at the same time. If you leave some at home, those will not work after reprogramming. This will set you back around $100-$150.
It was someones response to another persons problem...
Do you think something has changed with the key?
I dont know if this is a valid point or not - but it sounds like a possibility.

Found this post in a thread from the forum...
It seems as though the key can be programmed - but you need a code and VAG-COM...
