Default TPMS on A3

I have been doing a fair amount of research trying to figure out if it is possible to add a TPMS to my 2009 3 2.0T Quattro w/ DSG. It sounded like it might be possible based on other posts and information from 2006.

Last weekend I lost a tire due to a flat and have to have a brand new tire installed I am re-investigating this possibility.

There is a document floating around about different ABS Controllers that allow the TPMS (based on a wheel spin, not a pressure sensor in each wheel). I even have a technician at the dealer that is willing to looking to controller to see if the capability is built in. The last things I want to do is void the warenty because I was making the vehicle safer.

Does anyone know if the ABS Controller 1K0 614 517 BE or BK unit is capable of this? According to the dealership manual the 2009 had a pressure sensor in the wheel, where the 2010 uses the wheel spin method. Personally I find it hard to belive that between 2005-2008 (ABS Controller 1K0 614 517 R) used a wheel spin method, 2009 uses a pressure sensor, and 2010 uses a wheel spin method.

If anybody has experience with the different TPMS's, or know if the 1K0 614 517 BE or BK is capable I would appreciate any input.

I know that there are aftermarket systems available but I would really like to stay with the OEM look.

Thanks in Advance...

I just got a 2008 and was wondering if you resolved your question. I'd like a TPMS.

I ran out of time and steam to follow up with this. I had the dealership willing to spend time looking into it but they would have wanted my car to try things out and would have charged me the hours that they spent looking around. At that point I gave up. I remember reading a website from the US that talk about adding TPMS, but it was all iwth ABS controllers that pre-dated mine. You might have more luck with a 2008. http://audi-diy.blogspot.com/2007/10...ng-system.html

There are lots of aftermarket devices that would be easy to install, but I am not a fan of the way they look.

Good Luck
