I'd like to put Nav into my 2007 A3 - it's the basic model with FWD, no sunroof, manual seats - pretty much the basic model (no steering wheel controls, etc)

I'd like to have Nav and have seen it installed in other models the same year as mine.. I would like to buy the original Audi head unit, but don't know whats involved?

I asked at my local Audi dealer, and they weren't very helpful or knowledgeable about what it would take to do this...

I think I would need to at least find out about:
the harness - can the basic one accommodate the Nav unit?
GPS antenna - is it installed in base units, and all I have to do it hook it up, or do I need the part and have it wired?
Software - does anything need to be done to the firmware in the car to recognize the head unit?
Steering wheel - does the Nav system require the steering wheel with the controls on it (bluetooth, etc?)


Any other ideas on how I would go about doing this?

I want to do the same thing for the 2006. I know you an buy a stock double din nav from eBay off the 2010 models but I'm more worried about moving all the controls around. The heating controls move down , which makes less room in that little space? Hazard controls move to the bottom as well as the stupid little credit card holder.
If you find out any other info let me know, I also Have a base model FWD 5spd 2006.

I just make a DIY.

If you have a double DIN (Concert II or Concert III), it's pretty easy to change. The important thing is to make good Vag-Com programming. www.audiforum.us and Ross-Tech Wiki ( http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...Cabriolet_(8P) ) are the best place to find help about Vag-Com.
