Angry CPO Standards not honoured

I bought a 2007 Audi RS4 from Agincourt Audi last November. I paid $62,000 for it and also bought an extra set of rims and winter tires. Since winter was nearing I told them to deliver the car with the new winters I bought.

The problem is when I put the original summer tires on they were worn out. I complained and the dealer measured them and said 3 of the 4 tires were at 4mm ( the minimum to pass CPO) and one was at 3.5mm.

They offered to replace one of the tires which I thought was a joke...you dont put one new tire and 3 old ones on a car especially the RS4. Secondly, they are not supposed to CPO winter tires, they were supposed to CPO the tires on the car when I bought it.

I wrote Martin Sander (President of Audi Canada) and this was there response...

"WITHOUT PREJUDICE"

Dear Mr. Quenneville,

After extensive review of your case, Audi Canada is unable to meet your request.

As previously explained, the selling dealer holds the responsibility for the Certified Pre Owned inspection and condition of the vehicle at the moment of the sale. According to the inspection report, 3 of the tires met the requirements and Agincourt Autohaus did make an offer to correct the situation.

I apologize we are not able to meet your expectation at this time, however we feel that these concerns need to be addressed by the selling dealer.

Sincerely,

So question is what good is a CPO vehicle if Audi won't stand behind it???

Has anybody else had similar problems?

I always bought my Audi's as certified pre-owned and it is fairly wide- to sell them with the minimum wear on the tires. As part of my negotiations, i ALWAYS tell them to give me new tires and replace what ever is on the vehicle at the time of purchase. If they refuse, i walk away from the deal.

If there is one thing i think is a must when a buy a "new" car is to at least have new tires.

The summer tires were on the car when you originally test drove it ? and you didn't notice ?

does CPO include a warranty on tires? I don't think it does...

not trying to be a ****...but it seems like you just bought a car with worn tires and didn't notice. C'est la vie. Audi is not 'failing to stand behind CPO' or anything. This has nothing to do with AoC. Their agent, Agincourt Audi on the other hand...they're just a dealer who got away with one. My advice? Never go back there. That solves it, and screws them out of revenue.

To summarize
  • take the free tire
  • never go back to agincourt
  • buy 3 new tires for $800

get used to it too...4000 lb 400hp cars aren't exactly kind to tires! My 2007 S4 has 70,000 km on and I have gone through

4 Continentals (OEM)
4 Pirelli Wintersports
and I'm 1/2 way through a set of Michelin PS/2

p.s. where are the pictures of your car?

Hi, I am also dealing with Audi Canada regarding some issues from the selling dealer and the inspection report, etc. Can you let me know more about your situation. Thanks

Hi Mitch ...sorry for the delay ...havent been on here in awhile

After speaking with the President of Audi Canada (we were at the Audi Track day together back in July@Mosport) He agreed to pay for the new tires.

Let me know if I can help!

Let me educucate you since you dont seem to understand the CPO. It is a warranty (not for the tires) and also a "Vigorous" 300 point inspection (which includes the tires). There are minimum standards that they must meet. In my case not all the tires passed. If any of the 300 points do not pass the dealer is not allowed to offer it as a CPO vehicle (which they did0. According to Audi all of the tires should have been replaced and they obviously weren't.

Anyway, the President of Audi Canada has agreed to reimburse me for the tires which they now have.

C'est la vie!

Did I notice the tire was 3.5 vs 4mm?? No I did not.

Also, if you negotiate tires it just comes out of the profit of the deal. Dealers do not sell cars at a loss
