B8 S4 Child seat help
My 3 year old is not quite big enough for a dedicated booster seat, so I'm in the market for a combo child/booster seat (i.e. the type whose 5 point harness is removable) to be placed behind the passenger seat. Fit is proving to be a challenge on the B8 S4 due to the contour of the rear seats. My dealer tells me the B8 A4 has different style rear seats so may not have this fit issue, but I have not confirmed. I tried a bunch of the floor models at Toys 'R Us none of which fit well. They all tend to lean left or right when pulled down tight. I'd prefer not to stuff a towel or water noodle under the seat to make it work. I'm going to check out a Britax Frontier. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Mof,
What type of baby seat do you have right now? I am getting my 2011 S4 in Dec and expecting my first child two weekd later!!! I was wondering if you have any advice for an infant seat..

Re: B8 S4 Child seat help
I have the Britax Frontier XT and love it.
Although I don't have my S4 yet (on order), we have the Britax in our Q5, and are very happy with it. The seat has the highest weight limit for 5 point harnessing, and is very comfortable for my 4 year old girl.
I test fit the Frontier in the S4, and it seemed to fit fine - that said, I didn't cinch it in tight, jut put it loosely to make sure there was enough room.
We also have a Britax roundabout for our younger child, and it works great as well.

Firstly, congratulations on your upcoming baby. Very exciting!
For an infant seat I used a Peg Perego Primo Viaggio. It's the type where the bassinet is transferable between the base that sits in the car and a stroller that is designed to receive it. Plently of other manufacturers have similar systems, so check out a few. There is no shortage of reviews online.
My advice: Ask your dealer if they have a demo S4 that you can bring to the store where you are doing your child seat shopping and put all the seats in the car... It's the only way to really be sure the seat fits the way you want.

Re: B8 S4 Child seat help
I just wanted to say that it's awesome to see someone taking the time to fit a child-carseat properly! It's got to be more than 9 out 10 I see are ill-fitting and improperly installed - sad to see people not take the time to protect their children. The best advice I have is to do what you've already been doing: lots of trips in and out of stores until you find a perfect fit Obviously, proper installation should follow...

Re: B8 S4 Child seat help
I went with the Britax Frontier XT. I put it behind the passenger seat... It secures down well and our boy loves it. One note, the width of the child seat makes it a bit of a challenge to get the rear trunk passthough down.

Give all responsibility to your wife including the car seat issue, when he/she turns 12 sell or get rid of him/her ASAP. When they turn 20 something invite them back.
