Default 2011 S4 - No TPMS Option In Menu

All:

I was just going through my Car > Setup in the MMI and realized (unlike my previous 2010 Q5), that I don't have the TPMS option. I know the TPMS in 2010 and above is built into the ABS, can someone tell me why it's no longer in the menu?

I am also aware it can be turned on via vag-com but was curious to know why this isn't there from factory.

Thanks.

I asked my dealer to turn it on and they wouldn't, even though it would be possible for them to do. "Liability".

Hi Clyde: So I was looking at the vagcom menu and turning it on is "very very" easy. What I am thinking is this, the TPMS is the ABS. Having the option in the menu only allows you to "reset" the pressure when you swap from winter to summer rims and back. BUT if the TPMS is in the ABS what exactly are you resetting? There are no more sensor's to be reset. I wonder if other 2011 have had this option removed.

Apparently (from what I've read on forums), the ABS sensor detects changes in tire revolutions due to pressure differences. Not having a vag-com or knowing how to change menu items, I'm afraid I won't be much help. Please let us know how you make out.

I did some research. In Canada TPMS is NOT mandatory. IF the S4 has ABS TPMS module then you can turn on the feature via vag come. If not then it's not there.

Half way down this page it shows you how to check to see if your ABS has the TPMS module and if so the instruction to enable vag come menu.

I am going to give it a shot.

Just to confirm, using above instructions I was able to successfully activate TPMS.

Good work. I'll have to find someone with a vag com to do mine.
