Re: C5 A6, 3L BAMFT Build Thread
I was just searching through an Audi forum of another website and I was able to learn a lot more about the Stoptechs. Although my brakes are in perfect working order, I'm still researching which brakes to upgrade to when the time comes. I think Stoptechs may be the one, at least for now. I'm still undecided on the rears as everything seems to be custom for now. I'll probably go with something between 328mm and 360mm, and minimum 4 piston. I haven't heard much about the Alcon kits for the A6. I do know many owners who track their on the weekends use Brembos and Porsche kits and swear by them.
Have you decided to do anything to beef up the rear differential with all the power you're going to be running? I don't know how much torque the stock driveshaft and differential can handle but I'm sure you'll be pushing the limits of their capabilities with all the power you'll be making!

Looking at a skyline GTR r32 rear diff, having a local company work on a single tube propshaft with very beefy CV's.
I just want to get it running and baseline tuned, then over the winter it will get the rest of its upgrades, custom steel widebody is in it's future as well

Man, I can't wait to see this car running!
Yeah, Wilwoods are well known to racers, but not very common with daily modders. They certainly make high-quality stuff, and are by no means inferior to the popular names like Brembo, Stoptech, etc. I think people just don't consider them because everyone is running something else, so they just go with the flow. The only downside to Wilwoods is the lack of piston boots, which requires regular maintenance; but, I'm the kind of guy who rebuilds his calipers every year anyway
How much do those Works weigh? They look a little heavy

Re: C5 A6, 3L BAMFT Build Thread
I seen a lot of Wilwoods on American muscle cars back when I was heavy into that scene. I hate having to rebuild my calipers. I soon throw new ones on as it's far less time consuming. I'm still undecided on the brakes I'll be going with, but I still have plenty of pad life left so I guess I have time to do more research. Trying to find out what combination works best for the rears is difficult for our cars.
For my A4 I'm just replacing the stock 17s with replica 18s. For my A6 I'm looking at VMRs. I was looking at Enkei before but I think their quality isn't always up there. From what I spoke of to other members the VMRs are really high quality.

Update, being jerked around by my fabricator
Long story short, I will probably shelf this project for a year or two, I am too emotionally/financially invested in this ATM
Wish I had good news, but when fabrication was supposed to start in Feb, but gets pushed to May, then in July only 5% of the fab work is done, and I am told that instead of 5-6K it will more likely be 9-12K
As you can see, something had to give, and my wallet was already stretched
Extremely disappointed, actually I am downright ****ing pissed off, I feel like others don't have the integrity that I value and try to have

Damn man, I feel ya'
It's a mighty rare thing in this World to be able to find someone that will do exactly what they say they will do. I say find a new fabricator - I wish I had a recommendation, but I don't know of anyone in SK or AB that is what I would consider to be a master craftsman. That's the main reason I decided to do the engine assembly, and everything else but the machining, myself.
Best of luck on this project; I hope to see it completed!

It looks like the manifolds are complete up to the merges, I will be picking the car up on Thursday.
I will be fabricating the rest myself, just tacking the bends, then have someone local finish the welds.
Obviously that puts me a ways behind schedule, but considering I planned the layout of the piping from the start, it shouldn't be that difficult to execute.
