Default Retract Brake Piston

In order to retract brake pistons on Audi A4, which way do I have to turn to retract them? I don't see any arrow on the calipers.

I am doing the rear brake pads.

Not too clear on what you are asking? Do you have the specialty tool in order to retract these?

Rear brake pistons need to be screwed in not pushed in. I need to know which way I need to turn to retract them

They were both needed to turn clockwise. Can't believe nobody on this forum was able to answer the question.

Most folks use the specialty tool for this job as it's safe and quick with the right tool.

What year is your A4 and were you able to retract the pistons without using the caliper piston tool?

I am not sure what special tool you are talking about.

I used the tool in the below link. I don't think there are any more special tools than the bottom one unless you can just c-clamp it and pushes in.

DRAPER EXPERT 18 PIECE BRAKE CALIPER WIND BACK TOOL KIT Car Repair Tools Find Brake Repair Tools Buy Tools CHEAP Online

Even with the above tool, you still need to know which way to turn to retract your brake pistons.

Mine is 04.

Your link is the correct type of tool that 1move asked about. Audi rear calipers typically require turning the threaded piston while applying pressure in order to retract. Most front calipers can be c-clamped to retract. Good on you as it sounds like your job went well.

That was exactly what I was talking about and I wasn't sure which way to turn.

When I did the brake job on Ford before, it had arrows pointing directions on calipers. But I didn't see any arrows on Audi calipers.
