To buy an A4 or not to

Re: To buy an A4 or not to
Depends what you want to do with the car if you dont want to do any mods and want more reliability and you dont mind the higher fuel consumption go for the 3.0 V6 if you want a more fuel eficient motor with plenty of modding options to get it easily past the power of the V6 then go with the 1.8t but your gonna sacrifice reliability

WHAT HE SAID. Audi has the models of their cars on lock down. Something for everyone. Wow a bunk quattro? GOOD thing you spotted that scam. What a bunch of sketchball salesmen. I just started selling cars. I'd like to think someone would get fired for tryin to pull that garbage
Try and get an audi with warranty if u can. unless you know a tech or mechanic at Audi well. just to be uber safe
I know what you mean about not settling for anything but oooo

Re: To buy an A4 or not to
I found my car on kijiji and it was a private sale but the guy did everything at the dealer and had a binder full of reciepts to prove it. I bought the car not really worrying about repairs becuase i do everything myself and it took me a while to find one with low kms and in good condition the only downside to mine is cloth seats but I decided to have a good condition a4 rather than most of the neglected a4s ive seen with leather. Had the car for 3 months now and i havent had any problems im just slowly dumping money into mods. Oh and when your loocking for a car make sure its a quattro and dont jus look if it has the badge check underneath to see if it has a rar diff. one shady dealer advertised a a4 as having quattro and when i went to check it out turned out it was a front wheel.
hey,
can you please tell me how to check the differential to make sure that it's a quattro? I'm looking to buy this "quattro" which I have test drove. but hearing what you said, I think it'd be best if i take a look for myself as opposed to just looking at the badge (this is from an audi dealership, however). Thanks!

I bought my 2003 3.0 at an auction a year ago. It has 154,000 km and I havent spent any money at all on the car so far.
My experience so far has been amazing. I hope that all Audi's are like this one, oh yeah i did spend 17.99 on a new fog light bulb.

Re: To buy an A4 or not to
I have a 2003 A4 and have had no issues with the car itself. The only real issues I've had have been with Audi of Canada itself, but that's most probably because I'm quite a bit of a ***** with anyone who tries to take advantage of me
I'm actually looking to sell my A4 3.0 Quattro, in excellent condition, so if anyone is interested let me know.

Re: To buy an A4 or not to
I moved back to Canada a little over a year ago. The first year while I was adjusting I rented - I drove about every car made this past year - saved me a pile of money but was a bit of pain.
This past Sept I decided I would become socially acceptable and buy a car - I was originally looking at a little Toyota Yarris. Seemed like a great little car at the time - it was the most fun, most peppy rental I had.
Anyways while I was at one dealer there was a 2003 A4 1.8T sitting on the lot, along with a few yarris. The yarris were all around 2007, with about half as much KM, but no creature comforts like cruise control, arm rests etc. Nobody wanted the A4 and as a result the price was actually less than the little crap cars. Weird world.
The wife and I took the yarris out, then for fun I took the A4 out. What a shocker.
Instantly the little Yarris (like one of the most popular cars at the moment) seemed completely overpriced.
Anyways, after some postings on here as to whether it was a good deal - I took a bunch more out for test drives, and scoured listings for about 2 months - eventually finding a 2004 A4 V6 Quattro in Toronto for rougly $2000 less than a Yarris here in Calgary. Granted I had to pay for inspections shipping etc, but in the end .. much better deal.
I'd look at your budget and what you want todo. You buy an Audi yes the maintenance is gonna be higher.. but you get way more bang for your buck.... I can hit 180 Km/hr without any difficulty (safety or power) etc on the highway if i need to pass... at 110 Km/hr the yarris wants to explode. Frig the little tires on the things are practically the size of the steering wheel in an Audi.
Go look at a few cars.. the Audis I would say are undervalued at the moment...
My $0.10

Re: To buy an A4 or not to
I buy nothing but used cars - so far I am on my 9th Audi! (My first Audi was back in 1975 in case you are wondering) There will always be some small issue etc... but overall they are a wonderful car and I just love driving them! What I have found out is that the previous owner has done alot of the work already and they are looking for a change or fed up putting money into it. In actual fact they have solved alot of the problems and you can buy a fantastic used car!!!! Keep some money handy in case there are some issues but overall they are great! Find a good independent mechanic so you don't pay dealership costs etc... and just enjoy the car! Check this forum site - I am sure there is a list of shops/mechanics that are good and possibly close to you. Word of mouth is also good. Don't slouch on the maintanance.
