Default Gremlins or Glitch?

The alarm has been going off on my car intermittently for the past month. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason for this and it's very sporatic. We all know how annoying an unattended car alarm can be, and my neighbours have mentioned that they've heard it over the weekend when I was away.

Do I have gremlins???

If so, you're on the wrong forum.

I know the Gremlin... Who makes the Glitch?

I cannot even beging to figure out where this problem comes from... Perhaps getting the computer scanned... the immoboliser?!

I am curious to know where and how.

Good luck!

My Passat used to do this. I found out that water was leaking into my car and pooling into the floor on the drivers side and shorting out causing the alarm to go off. Check the lid on your ECU to make sure water is not getting into it as well as window seals etc.

are more of the electronics in your car messing up? my car started having little electrical glitches that got worse until my alarm went off every time i tried to get in my car or start it. it was the central control module/vacuum lock pump that controls a lot of the electronics that needed to be replaced. its in the trunk.

Thanks SO much for all suggestions. I am going to bring all of these to the attention of my mechanic and will let you know the outcome.

I've not noticed any water leaks and no abnormalities with electronics. I de-activated the interior alarm button (located on panel between driver's door and rear passenger door) a couple of weeks ago and thought this might have solved the problem .... but not so.

I am so thankful for this forum - it's been really helpful and I appreciate all of your comments!
