Default Audi A4 2007 Load Rating

Okay I beleive the OEM Tires come with 93 Load rating Index

Now i need new Tires. Found some good deals on 225/45/17 but the problem is they have 91 load rating.

According to the index its only about 100 pounds of difference.

Whats the minimum Load rating that i should have on my Audi A4 2007 2.0T Quattro?

Is it safe to have 91 load rating tires. ?

Not being a tire expert I resort to places like Tirerack.com or similar. They have a great site and respond to e-mails within a day.

Personally I'd advise sticking to a 95Y XL

while your A4 is a hair lighter than my 07 S4, it's still a 3600lb sedan that is capable of high speeds. I'd go strong.

p.s. check your door jamb...the 'tech spec' data that's out there is contradictory on many occasions, but your door will tell you what Audi want you to do.

The tech specified by the door jam says i need 235/45/17 94H. or 215/55/16 94
thats the manufacturer's suggestion right.
But what i need to know is if any1 has tried 225/45/17 91H tires.

what's the point of fighting the manufacturer specs? I don't get it.

I mean I'm sure some people have tried to save the $20 or so to go with the weaker load rated tire, but man...a blowout at 120kmh could cost a lot more than that. You get that this is a safety issue right? It's tantamount to running summers in the winter to save a few bucks. Danger isn't worth it.

Anyway, good luck.

Agreed. If Audi thought a lower load rating was OK, they would have used it. Don't forget the dynamic loads are far higher than the static weight. Think turning and braking at the same time - huge load on the outside front tire.
