I just got a 2011 S4 manual with summer 19" performance tires . I need to get winter tires ASAP.

A couple of questions:

1- Is it reasonable to get winter wheels/tires dedicated for my new S4 ? I leased this car and will have 3 winters to deal with here in the NY metropolitan area. It was suggested that I get 18" rims with Blizzards. ( $1500) and store the summer tires. Any other thoughts?

2- Should I take the Audi tire protection for my summer 19" performance tires that came with the car? It costs $895. I will be driving on roads with some potholes and roughness.
Or is it not worth it? How much is a new 19" rim for example?

I have a 2011 S4 as well and live in NY. I am getting new HRS4 rims from a company that specializes in Audi and getting my winter 18" tires from Tirerack.com. I was recommend to the company from a friend at Audi. The dealership was quoting $2600, which is very pricey.

 

What kind of snow tires are you getting?

Size? width? manufacturer?

What are your plans with your summer tires and rims ? Did you get the 19" wheels?

Did you buy the tire protection for the summer tires and rims?
