16" Rims for B7 A4 Avant
Just purchased a new to me stock 2007 A4 S-line Avant with factory 18" rims. Looking to get a set of winters and rims for it and got a few questions if anyone can help out a newbie.
1. Does the base model 7x16 rims fit on it? Main reason why I'm asking is that the 16" tires are quite a bit cheaper and there's more selection at this rim size. Searching through the forums, I could only find one reference from someone saying that there was no difference with the S-line brakes and the base. However using the 16" rims with the S-Line package suspension I don't know if the suspension is physically different or only tuned differently.
2. Thinking of going to a 225/60 R16 which equals an extra 1.2 inches of diameter (according to the tire calc). We get quite a lot of unplowed snow in my neighbourhood so any extra ground clearance is nice. Will there be any rubbing in the wheelwell from the extra diameter? Yes I do realize the speedo will be off.

Re: 16" Rims for B7 A4 Avant
Yes 16 inch wheel fit as Im running them on my avant too. Ive did that choice considering money and traction. Im really happy with my choice and sure you'll enjoy too.
The only thing i'll warn you about is to get to 225 60 as it is really won't make a difference anyway in a foot of snow.
Enjoy your ride, winter condition are soo fun with these car.

And if I don't get the standard 16" rim but an aftermarket one, what kind of offset will work? In the specs it says 42mm offset for 16" factory rims but all the after market rims seem to be 35mm.

I don't know about offset on my 16 but i purchase them from tirerack and they are a direct fit and look perfect. Be carefull, offset always relate to rim width.
I am not having a tpms, only a reading on abs sensor to look at different tire rotation, like in flat tire situation.
good luck
