DO NOT GO TO ROYAL OAK AUDI FOR A USED CAR. You can continue reading if you want. After receiving confirmation from Royal Oak that a 2010 Audi (46,500km) had met 300 pt pre-owned certification(CPO), completed by their Tech, I put a deposit. It needed some bumper bodywork and wheel curb rash repair. Was almost going to hand money over when I noticed two dents in same area of rocker panels of both driver's and front passenger. After some arguing, they agreed, at my expense to have other dealership check the car. Their Tech found 19 problems (most major) that should not have passed CPO. They disputed the findings. I realized the car had been abused. Audi Can was useless--I was told that they are an independent business. All they do is repeat to you what dealer says. Audi Can then files a "report", end of "action". See Car and Driver pg 8 May 2013 and find out who Audi Canada's TRUE customers are. Clue: it's not us. Had to argue to get deposit refunded. Learnt this: 300pt CPO "standard" is a joke (it's at discretion of Tech), DON'T believe ANYTHING Service or Management says, they have NO honesty, NO integrity. GM is bro-in-law (outlaw?)of other Audi dealer. But I was lucky to also get inspection fee reimbursed- probably had help from contacts. I have been dealing with Glenmore Audi for over 22 years. I assumed that it would be safe since it's the same family. So, I was the "***" in the "assumed". If I had not insisted on an inspection, the car would have given problems (worn brakes) within a few thousand km. That would have been my fault bec they would probably say that I "ride" the brakes when driving. That is my first hand experience. If your experience is different from mine, then great. I gain nothing from telling you this, so if you go, make sure your eyes are wide open. Don't be fooled by the shine and glitz of the place-- a Venus flytrap.

Just ordered an S4 with dual clutch tranny. Only options are the centre differential and carbon atlas trim. Lava Grey. Very understated but beautiful combination. Drove a new 2013 with the exact combination but will wait for a 2014. Very fast car indeed. Cheers

Hi Joe,
I think you mean the sport differential, not "centre differential". All Audis except for the A3 and TT have the longitudinal layout (not transverse orientation) of the engine. Thus, they have the centre Torsen differential which is an integral part of the original Quattro four wheel drive system. The Sport differential that you have optioned, is an electronically controlled multi-plate system that sits between the rear wheels to vary the degree of rotation of each wheel to enhance cornering traction and stability. At speed, it makes the car corner like it is on rails. I think 2014 will be the last model year for this body style because a new A4 model is expected this fall at the Frankfurt show. The S4 may follow in the following year. Please post some pictures and have fun with the car.

You're absolutely correct on my slip-up about the Sport Diff. I guess in my excitement I misquoted. This Sport Diff uses a somewhat different design is my understanding and apparently weighs very few pounds. Works with the 7 speed but they haven't switched to it on the Tip-Tronic. Not a beefy enough unit to be used with the other tranny as it may be used for towing etc. on the Q5. Even the upcoming SQ5 won't have it. Cheers

Hi Joe,
I would also add that the cornering advantages of the sport diff wouldn't be realized with models such as the Q5 anyway, as they inherently have the ponderous dynamics of a high centre of gravity. A word of caution though, despite the magic of the sport diff, you cannot defy the laws of motion especially in slippery conditions. I think the S4 is the epitome of a "wolf in sheep's clothing". It is totally understated and doesn't shout about its potential. Have fun and ensure you have radar protection.

Thanks for the detector hint) I am actually heading back to my youth with this purchase. I grew up in the 50's/60's/70's so was privy to all the heavy machinery and owned them as well. Cars with 300+ HP was common place and I did own many of those vehicles. Have to say, though, I have yet to drive any car that has the same dynamics as the S4. This is a major quick machine in comparison to anything that I ever owned or driven that had ton's more HP. Cheers
