5/40 with VW 502.2 rating
Hi,
Where is the best place for pricing for oil for the A 3's? I do the oil on my other cars. But have not changed oil on an A3. Straight forward or some tips and tricks? |
Re: 5/40 with VW 502.2 rating
I've done it once or twice on an a3, depends if you have the tfsi or fsi the filter is either in a canister in the front or on the top front of the cylinder head, 5/40 castrol is 502 approved and can be found everywhere, I run castrol 0w30 which is 502 approved and made in germany and highly regarded over the 5w40 castrol. It can be found at Canadian tire/napa/partsource. I wait until its on sale and buy enough for 2-3 oil changes.

The oil filter is on top of the motor. How do I tell if I have a tfsi or fsi?
Thank you, Shaun |

To be honest I can't remember which one is which I've done oil services on the engine with the cartridge filter down at the front, not your style so I cant give you any tips on changing the filter without making a mess

You most likely have a TFSI engine if you have the turbo (Turbo fuel stratified injection), Any VW502 oil works fine. Winters in Calgary, I run mobil/ valvoline 0w-40 Costco or canadian tire usually has sales even couple months for a 5L at around below $30, summers i run Motul Xcess 5w-40. As long as they meet the VW specifications you will be fine.
Fairly straightforward change, top filters are amazing Here's the specification list from Audi's website. Attachment 16604 If the above file updates, the maintenance section of Audi USA https://www.audiusa.com/help/maintenance website. |

crappy tire for sure, you can get 502 spec castrol which is what the dealer uses for cheap when it goes on sale.
