Hi All- I haven't posted in a while and it's time to vent yet again
Intro: previous owner of two Audi A4 Sedans and one Audi A4 Avant.
I believe I'm the only one in Calgary(?) with a 2020 A4 allroad model purchased in Sep 2020 from Glenmore Audi (via Montreal), but I hear similar stories from newer A4 and A5 sedan owners, on how the cars are stripped off functionalities they once came equipped with and/or downgraded components wherever it was possible for Audi to save a few dollars.
Pros (A4 Allroad w/Sport package):
- Black cabin roof liner
- Moonroof (first year)
- Full touchscreen MMI (first year)
- Super cool Matrix head and tail lights
- reworked exhaust looking like those on Audi's SUVs
- Aluminium / Chrome accents on body (makes a black car appear less black )
- full body paint availability
- lighter base weight
- Heated steering w/ back & front camera and drive select is standard as of 2020
- Map on front display (nice when View is minimized)
- Bonus: received *massive* discounts for purchasing in September (downside is not being able to choose colour --would have loved the Navarra Blue--, wireless charging, rooftop 3D camera as add-ons)
Cons (A4 Allroad w/Sport package):
- No special seats for a Sports version or perforated leather on steering wheel --> like in my previous A4 Avant S-Line (Recaro seats)
- Came (as an Allroad, eh?) with 19" Performance Summer tires
- Basic breaks on a Sport package (i.e. ceramic would be only ~$200 dollar upgrade) --> disks appeared very used after only 100km
- Moonroof cover is opaque, i.e. no possibility to have it open and not be exposed to sun; used to have a net (this sucks the most)
- Small and basic glove compartment (with a klutz inside that serves no purpose other than having additional slots w/ Technik package)
- Gone: SD card slot and CD player Left: only 1x USB 3.0 and 1x Type C connection ports
- MMI has a bug, in that if you play something of a thumb drive within a directory structure, it is not possible to navigate up to i.e. other album or out to another artist altogether
- plastic buttons that appear cheap and plastic latches instead of **** with aluminium accents for moonroof
- Map on front display doesn't copy Google Map from Android Auto when phone is connected
Got some 'General' winter tires on separate rims thanks to my friends at Tunerworks. They turned out to be the best bang for the buck I ever invested, i.e. not noisy and dope on snow and ice. For example, in December 2020 I drove, after a heavy snowfall if you recall, up Brisbois Dr NW using the steep side streets to reach Conrad Dr NW. No problem, got stuck a bit in sport mode at first, then used the offroad function on drive select and up I was like a snow grooming machine. There even was a City of Calgary snow plow parked on the side and watched the whole time. 'Broke in the snow for him a bit
I think that's it
Any comments, feel free... Ease my "pain". No seriously, still love the car.
