Hi, Just waiting for our new Q5 to be received at our dealer... long wait! We live in the province of Qc, I know there are restriction on tinted windows and wondering if the additional cost is really worth it.

This will be our first Audi. I've tried to compare with our actual car, Subaru Outback, and manufacturer tinted windows look pretty much the same. I'm wondering how much tinted they actually can add.

Any one has experience with this and could share? Thanks,

 

Not sure about QC -- I'm in ON, but I travel to QC very often and have never been stopped (knock on wood).


All my vehicles have tinted windows, done locally by UniglassPlus Ziebart. My 2017 Q5 has 20% tint on both front side windows (rears came tinted from the factory). The 20% matches the rears. Cost = $100. This is good quality tint (i.e., doesn't fade nor change colour) and has lasted for years on my other cars.

Thanks, that helps a lot! Incidentally, I was parked beside a Q5 yesterday and got under the impression that the rear side windows tinted from the factory were 50% dark. I will get my front side windows tinted for sure. Do you sometime wish you would have selected darker? I think 20% is probably what's currently on my front side windows, tinted from the Subaru factory. I might opt for a bit darker

 

The tint is just right (in my opinion). Anything darker would be somewhat dangerous as you would have vision restriction at night. 20% doesn't sound like much, but it very closely matches the rear windows and does block alot of sun. Also, take into account that it might pose less of an excuse for the cops to stop you!
