Audi A4 2007 PRNDS flashing with with engine light Fault code 017
Audi A4 2007 PRNDS flashing with with engine light Fault code 01798.
The car drives fine. Out of no where the PRNDS starts flashing. The mechanic I took Pearl to (that's my A4's name) recommended either a new transmission ($6,879) or rebuild one.
He also said he would just keep driving it as it is until it becomes an issue.
HELP! Any thoughts or suggestions?

If you contact Audi and tell them about the issue and let them know that after looking up the issue online you saw that it was a very common issue they will notate it and if they hear enough people calling it in they will make a recall and fix the issue.
