Default Delivery Damage

Today was finaly the day I was to drive away in the 2015 monsoon grey Q5 3.0 sline I ordered a while ago.

Elas, I left the dealership in a Q3 loaner.

The salesman made a nasty scratch on the side of the Q5 below the gas tank while on his way out of the showroom. The scratch is extremely deep and about 1 foot long and 1inch wide caused by metal on metal.

The Q5 will be sent to the bodyshop even before I could drive it myself

How would you guys handle this? Am I going to be ok with this repair in the longrun or will it just open the door to further problems on that part of the Q5 body going forward?

Thanks!

That's bad news. I would be curious to hear what the plan is at the body shop. If they are a top notch outfit, I wouldn't stress.

If it is a lease...i would not sweat it
HOWEVER if you are purchasing the car you will be penalized with resale value. I work in the industry and let me tell you nobody can match OEM painting methods (Hi Bake) since every single aftermarket body shop only have Low Bake method. Depending on the color of your vehicle it could be very hard for a 100$ match especially if you have a trained/ eye...
a superficial scratch could be wet sanded and buffed to perfection but from your story a touch up paint will not cut it they will have to repaint the whole panel and "blend in'' the paint
Sorry to hear that but personally i would demand a rebate or wait for another vehicle

The Q5 was ready for pickup today and they did a great job fixing that nasty scrape considering how bad it was. This is a lease so I won't sweat it anymore than I already did.

Thanks for your replies!
