Default Starter / battery problem

Purchased a 2007 A6 avant wagon a few months ago. The car refused to start a couple of times in the first few weeks. Needed a boost to start the car. Car dealer couldn't find the problem. After researching I found a TBS that pretty much described the problem. Something about a shutting down sequence that would leave the radio amplifier on. The MMI's operating system needed to be updated. Did that and replaced a faulty Bluetooth module. $1100... A few weeks later got stuck again in a shopping center unable to start the car. Then again another week after that. But this time I noticed that when starting the car I sort of hesitated with the key and fiddled a little. To my surprise, after boosting the car and trying this same fiddling thing again, I ended up with the same result. What the hell is going on here ? If there is some kind of electronic problem in the ignition. Why am I able to start the car by boosting it ??? And if the battery is fully charged what difference does it make that I boost the car ? Battery is new. Does anybody have a clue ? Thanks
