roof top box for A4 2.0T sedan
I want to get the long, slim one. With rails and pads (to avoid car roof damage). Should I go with Audi brand (ski and luggage carrier, p. 20 in the A4 brochure) or opt for a different brand? Just curious as to what the experiences are out there.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Audi OEM bars are actually made by Thule. Have a look at the Thule website (http://www/thule.com) and see which you prefer; I went with the Thule aerobars as they were cheaper than the Audi branded ones. Primary difference is the Audi bars end flush with the mounting foot, the Thule ones extend beyond but are useable with other vehicle brands, in the event you replace your Audi.
I went with the Audi bars & box for my 2012 A4. Very nice secure fit with no roof scuffing. I was interested in low windnoise as we use these on very long trips and these bars deliver. Hardly would no that they are up there even at 120 kph. The Audi box is very nicely designed with quick release bolts and opens from either side which is a real bonus if need to get at something on the "other" side of the open box. Worth the extra $$$ for the custom bars although I'm sure the Thule "generic" boxes would probably offer similar functionality for a few less $$$.
