Default Brakes on Audi Q5

Hi,

I have 49000 km on my 2011 Q5 and on-board computer indicates to change pads.

The dealer is telling me that I should change both all four disks and all 4 pads front and rear. That is the procedure for all thier vehicles.

I have 3 mil in front pads remaining and 3 mils remaining in the back pads.

I am a conservative driver, my disks look pretty smooth..

My Question: Do I really have to replace all 4 disks along with my pads ?

Thanks,
Rocco

Hey rocco, what did you end up doing?
I'm facing the same situation at 40,000Km

Audi is telling me they always change both dics and pads. $1,500.00 tax in for both. CRAZY!

This is crazy, change the pads and leave the disc for later. I have never heard of disc change at 40K.

I purchased all pads front and back from Audi and had them replaced elsewhere.

The mechanic that serviced my Audi said my disks were all smooth and in excellent shape and didn't need to be replaced.

I replaced my Q5's front and rear pads at 35,000 with Hawk HPS pads. I was tired of the grunting noises and dust from the Audi pads. My "Independent" mechanic saw no reason to play with the disks. This improved braking feel and provided much lower dust levels.

Pads were $236 incl taxes and shipping from www..ca.
Installation was ~$240 but involved two shops. The first shop did the fronts but did not have the right computer to retract the electronic parking brake on the rears, so a second shop did the rears.

I am very happy with the result.

I recently changed my front brakes on my Q5 at the dealership at 32000km.

It costed $710 for the front brakes.
