Car cranks, starts, then after 1-2 sec stops. It's acting like the Immobilizer has kicked in. My code reader doesn't show any new faults, and the fuel pump fuse looks good.

Only 2 unusual items lately: I had to add brake fluid, and it has been POURING rain the last 18 hours.

Any other thoughts before I start to spend $$$ at a shop?

 

Sounds like a faulty ignition switch. I think this might be a dealer moment, because I think you have to reprogram.

 

You had to add brake fluid probably because your pads are getting low and your calipers are able to hold more fluid. Check your pads to see if they have enough pad, if they do, no worries. Just remember on the next brake job to watch the level when compressing the caliper.

 

Today the tow truck driver hops in and gives it a try. On goes the Check Engine light, and it fires up. @#$%! Wouldn't you know it(I last tried it at 9 last night). Exhaust smells very rich, and it idled roughly the first few seconds.

Something to do with the rain/condensation maybe?

 

Potential solution: The cover on the ECU box. Under the cowl there was a screw that was missing, potentially allowing water to get in an short the ECU. Screw has been replaced, and it hasn't reoccurred. Could be co-incidence, I guess.
